Our menu reflects this dedication to tradition, often changing based on the availability of seasonal ingredients. To minimize our environmental footprint, we compost and only purchase ingredients that are produced without sprays, GMOs, or antibiotics.

Why the name Strega?
Cooking is Magic,
it is transformation,
it is feeling.
The restaurant's name, Strega, which means "witch" in Italian, is inspired by the Legend of Janare from Benevento, known as the "city of witches." These women, called "janare," derive from "dianare," or "women priestesses of the goddess Diana," giving Benevento an air of magic and intrigue.
Historically, women were the primary gatherers of food, using limited ingredients to create simple yet imaginative dishes. This practice has led to the creation of beloved foods such as bread, polenta, cheeses, and soups.
Cooking is a form of magic involving transformation and connection, reflecting our concept at Strega. These women passed down valuable herbal knowledge orally from mother to daughter, with their practices integrated into everyday life.

Their understanding of nature’s cycles made them the first female healers, providing essential remedies from herbs and plants, especially during the Medieval period when access to medicine was often restricted. Labeled as "witches," they were marginalized for their dedication to natural healing.
